I was very saddened to happen upon this site recently, quite by accident, and learn of Art's death. But it was also wonderful to see a site filled with such loving tributes to this very special man...

As another of Art's Christian friends, I always loved Art's passion for telling Jewish jokes, as well as Jesus ones.Wait a minute...Jesus WAS Jewish! Well... He would put on this mock-Jewish dialect and let 'er rip. It wouldn't have been nearly as funny without the dialect! Even though we heard them over & over during the 20+ years Art played with my band, they were still funny as the first time he told them. He had an "Art" for making people laugh. I'm one of Artie's many Christian friends so please understand me when I say "Jesus, do I miss Art"!



We did hundreds of gigs together which don't seem like enough now. He was funny, sensitive, smart, pushy, mannerly & deeply alive all @ the same time. Whether is was big band, small combo or just duo, Artie not only played well but encouraged & supported me over the last 30 years or so.



With unerring 20-20 hindsight, I think I could have been a lot nicer to Artie.… Continue

Art loved to entertain. He would book 5 hour gigs, then at the end when the musicians were exhausted, he would ask the host if we should play a little longer! I'll miss the jokes, even though I heard most of them many times over the years.

We will never forget how Art touched our lives with his quick wit, zest for life, interesting conversation and jokes. A true Renaissance man with such varied interests and accomplishments in sports (golf), music (sax), travel (the world), science, and the list goes on. We will miss him very much but try to think of the good times we shared.
